10 Questions with Precious Ink

Interviews

Precious Ink set to play their first headline at Independent on December 1st supported by Calvoas and Primaveras.

Who are precious ink?

We (Precious Ink) are a 5 piece New-Wave Pop-Punk band with a splash of rock in our sound. Consisting of members Hannah Logan, James Critchlow, Kitty Parkins, Luke Colling and our new addition Dan Scraffton.

Biggest Inspiration and why?

James: Alex Turner originally inspired my love for sitting in my bedroom making riffs, but i’d now go with Dave Grohl for being such an inspiration inside and out the music scene! His live performances and passion for music is something to be admired.

Luke: Got to be Paul McCartney for me! He’s relentlessly creative and never stops being a nice person, the two most important qualities I want to carry in all of my life.

Dan: Tre cool drummer for green day! So much energy and so much passion when he plays! Can make a simple beat sound massive and has so much artistic flair in his writing, you can always know when it’s him playing x

Kitty: I went to see a gig with my dad and saw Belly play live. Gail Greenwood was the bassist and I was in love with her energy and groove that she had going whole hitting some crazy harmonies. She was the cool person who made me want to pick up a bass in the first place.

Hannah: Hayley Williams energy was super inspiring to me as a kid, the way she can hold a crowd in the palm of her hand while hitting some incredible notes is just so crazy and she’s so talented while keeping a cool head. And who doesn’t want to be Hayley Williams?

How did you start making music?

A combined hatred for there not being enough to do throughout the week, while all collectively being really passionate about music and the local music scene brought us together! Each gig you go to gives more desire to get yourself on stage. Individually we all came in at different points of our music careers, but we’ve managed to create a brilliant environment that inspires creativity.

What have the band been up to recently?

We have been getting into gear with a strong setlist and a number of songs we want to get released soon. most of the our time recently has been us getting stronger together as a band and on a writing streak to get a library of music under our belts.

Earliest musical memory?

Hannah:

my first musical memory is at four years old in my dads pub, standing on the bar singing Valerie to 150 people.

Who do you want to listen to your music?

We want to appeal to all lovers of rock and punk, ranging from new wave modern punk to 80s hair metal fans, and hopefully attract people from all kinds of genres as the most important part of our music is to have our message heard.

Paramore, Royal Blood, Softplay.

Where do you see yourself in 2years?

ideally touring internationally, doing festivals and working on the release of our second album.
