Young musicians project born rockers Rokkari are back! Since changing their name from Ultra Violet, they’ve got a handful of gigs including The Bunker on the 25th of November along side Manikins and Even the Tides!
Who are Rokkari?
A Sunderland based four-piece indie rock band, with Liv as vocal + guitar, Ava on lead guitar, Indie on bass, and Caleb on drums. guitar driven, and female fronted.
Who is your biggest music inspiration and why?
Paramore, with guitar inspired by Foals
How did you start making music?
We became a band through meeting at YMP, originally it was just three of us (Indie, Ava, + Caleb) until Liv joined as guitar and vocals to help us finish the first song we wrote, Along the Road
What have you and the band been up to recently?
We’ve been lucky enough to be able to play at the Cumberland Arms, The Independent, and just recently to support Field Music at the Cluny. We also spent two days at Blank Studios recording with some amazing producers and messing around with lots of guitar pedals
What is your earliest musical memory?
(Liv) Singing ‘away in a manger’ in my Nativity play
What kind of people do you want to listen to your music?
fans of: Paramore, Kings of Leon
What is the band’s dream gig line up and why?
Rage against the Machine and Queens of the Stone Age because we’re all huge fans, and Stevie Nicks because we’ve recently been playing a cover of ‘edge of seventeen’ in our sets.
Where do you see yourself in 2 years?
We’d like to play some festivals in the future, and maybe release a full album when we have enough material and are able to record again. (and all ginger as we currently have ¾)
What have you got coming up in the future?
We’ve got our first sold out show at the bunker, playing with Manikins and Even the Tides, which we’re all super excited for. We also have two singles which are recorded and ready to go, hopefully being released early next year (dates to be confirmed!), so keep an eye out for that 🙂
Who is your favourite local artist and why?
Crowley because we all love their music and its great to see other female fronted local bands 🙂
